16/08/2007 - Constructing the Vertical Stabiliser

I can not continue with the horizontal stabilizer as I am waiting for a HS404 from Vans ($8.37); YES they said I needed to replace it, so I have ordered it along with some pro-seal for the rudder edge.

Anyway it means I have moved onto the vertical stabiliser.  Its very similar to one side of the horizontal so there should not be too many surprises.

The work starts by mating the spar double with the rear spar.  The only issue here is the doubler had more bend in it than Beckham ! so I needed to straighten it a little as it was warping the spar.

With the ribs added along with the front spar and the usual smoothing, and straightening applied.

There was just enough time left to remove the blue strips of plastic ready for putting the skin onto the frame and start the task of match drilling.  Tomorrows job..... that's all folks.
